12 Volt models using a Non resisted Coil I'm not sure of the year of change over please check the old coil or your work shop manual.

IF YOU HAVE DOUBT WHICH IS CORRECT COIL DO THIS
Measure Primary Resistance across the Coil (+ and - terminals):Resistor Coil (Ballasted): Resistance measures 1.2 OHMS to 1.8 OHMS. (Requires an external ballast resistor or resistor wire in series to drop operating voltage to ~8V–9V).Standard 12V Coil (Non-Ballasted): Resistance measures 2.8 OHMS to 3.5 OHMS. (Runs directly on 12V without an external resistor).
