Herbert Austin Started with the Wolseley Sheep Shearing Equipment Company assigned to work in Sydney Australia and eventually Started the Austin Motor Company. The Austin company was in production a few years when the Great War begun. The War office in England put the company hard at work for the war effort, producing armoured vehicles and engines, ordinances in fact anything needed. Herbert grew a huge amount of employees and at wars end kept his employees on by producing many smaller cars including the famous Baby Austin7.
Austin continued manufacturing many variety of vehicles including Car derived Vans (CDVs) and Utility vehicles, trucks, many sedans and convertibles even way after the Merger with The Nuffield group to become BMC and into the era of BLMC and British Leyland.
