About the Austin A70 these cars were produced between 1948 and 1954. Similar in design to the A40 Somerset and Devon 4 door were a larger family car and powered along nicely with their 2199cc 4 cylinder petrol powered engine, the same engine used in their commercial the K8 van and light truck. The Hampshire was first produced and sold well but improvements in design meant a new model so it was then the that Hereford was now introduced and found more buyers from 1950 onwards. there were 34,360 Hampshires produced by end of run in 1950 and there were also 1,515 Hampshire 901 Countryman estate style wagons produced. The Hereford had more interior space in the back seat and found favour with families and sold 48,640 by end of production. There was also a Hereford Coupe which failed to sell in any great numbers only 266 were sold so these are rare today and you are lucky to have one. There were also 20,434 hampshire and Hereford Pickups? Utes sold and many of these were sold to the colonies and many were in fact made in Australia.
